Our mission is to find solutions to help solve the substance use crisis through research and community outreach.

Annual letter

TSRG continues to be in a growth phase. As we head into giving season, we are launching a quarterly newsletter so we can share our successes and progress in a consolidated format. The year 2021 was filled with grant writing, researching, and writing journal articles, collaborations with local public health departments in southern rural Colorado and metropolitan Denver, and administrative and technological development. This growth could not have been accomplished without the support of our friends, family, and devoted colleagues. Here are some highlights.

We have two recent journal article submissions:

  1. “Perceived Impact of COVID-19 on Prevention, Treatment, Harm Reduction, and Recovery Services for Opioid Use Disorder: National Survey of Local Health Departments.”
  2. “Racial/Ethnic Disparities in the Availability of Opioid Use Disorder Services: A Cross-Sectional Analysis of Local Health Jurisdictions.”
  • We have secured $63k in Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) funding in partnership with the Pueblo Department of Public Health and Environment.
  • Our student internship program is part of our business model. We identify bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral students who are interested in learning about research on substance use or have a specific interest in public health policy. In both 2020 and 2021, we had three student interns who have been an essential part of our work.

There is so much to be grateful for this giving season. Thank you for your support. We hope you will follow our progress in finding solutions to the substance abuse crisis.
