Today, TSRG would like to announce that in partnership with the Otero County Health Department (OCHD), our collaborative application for the Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) Implementation grant has been approved by the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy! The grant is a multi-year initiative by HRSA aimed at reducing the morbidity and mortality of substance use disorders (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD), in high-risk rural communities. The grant is for $1 million over a 3-year period and is scheduled to begin on September 1, 2022. With this funding, we now have an opportunity to implement new strategies to reduce opioid morbidity and mortality in four rural southern Colorado communities. Much more funding is needed, but this is an important step. Thank you HRSA. Thank you, Otero County, for your partnership and leadership. Thank you Bent, Conejos, and Crowley counties for the opportunity we have to work together.
